Frugal Fridays - DIY Lip Scrub

For The Frugal Friday: September 14th Edition, I tried out a lovely DIY Lip Scrub!  I came across this idea on a blog called Crunchy Betty.  Her blog is filled with tons of great DIY ideas for beauty products, cleaning products, etc, etc (If you have not visited her blog before, you should really check it out!) Aaaaaand I digress!  Now that the weather is slowly getting a little bit colder here in Massachusetts , it's important to think about taking care of your skin!  The dryer the air gets out there, the more love your skin needs!  When it comes to chapped lips, most people just lather on a good chap stick.  The chap stick or lip moisturizer may help, but that really doesn't do the trick.  In order to soften those dried cracked lips, you need to exfoliate all of the dead skin off and THEN lather on a good chap stick or lip moisturizer.  In the past, I have purchased lip scrubs that have cost between $6 and $10 but this fantastic DIY Lip Scrub won't cost you much at all.

You will need:

Step One:  Put all ingredients into a bowl
Step Two:  Mix Together
Step Three: Transfer Scrub into a small container that you can keep it in
Step Four: Exfoliate your lips!

You only need about a dime size amount of scrub (maybe even a little less) for each time you use it.  Just rub it onto your lips in a circular motion and remember to take your time with this - about a minute or two!  As you rub this scrub along your lips, the sugar will exfoliate them (removing any dead skin) and the olive oil and honey will moisturize them.  You can choose to either rinse the scrub off or if you want to, you can eat it! That may sound weird but think about it - it is just sugar, honey & olive oil!!

So I am proud to call this lip scrub another Frugal Friday success!!  The ingredients needed for this DIY are more than likely already in your kitchen cabinets, which is always a perk AND if you don't have a small container to keep your scrub in, you can find one at your local pharmacy or department store in the travel section!

I guarantee that you will love the way your lips feel after using this scrub!! Try it out & let me know what you think!

Lots of Love,
Meg
